[PARTNER] Ballet Philippines Brings "Master Pieces" to the U.S. and Canada
/Ballet Philippines will be performing Master Pieces: Celebrating 45 Years of Dance. A showcase of several of the company’s best and most celebrated works from notable choreographers, the production highlights the company’s dual mastery of classical and contemporary dance.
In celebration of Filipino American Heritage Month, Master Pieces shows different facets of the Filipino’s indomitable spirit and our diverse and colorful culture. Ranging from Filipino folksongs to the most contemporary expressions, the production promises a taste of home and an invitation to all to partake of the fun and dynamic energy of the Philippines.
The Master Pieces repertoire includes George Birkadze’s Farandole, Alden Lugnasin’s Aku, Denisa Reyes’ For the Gods, Agnes Locsin’s Moriones, and Alice Reyes’ Bungkos Suite. Also the founder and Artistic Director Emeritus of Ballet Philippines, Alice Reyes was recently proclaimed National Artist for Dance.
The touring group will be led by Ballet Philippines President Margie Moran Floirendo and Artistic Director Paul Alexander Morales, and carries the banner of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
Ballet Philippines will be performing in six venues, namely the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA (October 4), the California Theater in San Jose, CA (October 12), the Lincoln Performance Hall, College of the Arts, Portland State University, in Portland, OR (October 15), the Kenneth J. Minneart Center for the Arts, South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia, WA (October 17), the Highline Performing Arts Center in Burien, WA (October 22), and the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, British Columbia (October 26).
