Invitation to DFA's Fiesta Filipinas (Pahiyas Festival)

The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco wishes to invite the members of Filipino  and Filipino American communities in the U.S. Pacific Northwest to take part in the first episode of Season 2 of “Fiesta Filipinas: An Online Celebration of Philippine Festivals”, featuring the Pahiyas Festival of Quezon province

“Fiesta Filipinas” is a collaboration between the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the Department of Tourism (DOT), and the National Commission for Cultural and the Arts (NCAA). This cultural diplomacy project is a multi-format online series, which simulates the experience of a Philippine festival through a combination of live and pre-recorded videos. This online event aims to attract tourists to the Philippines and introduce to them the country’s culture and traditions. The project will provide a “Fiesta Filipinas kits” to the bisitas (Filipino for “participant”) to give them an immersive experience of the Philippine festivals.

Episode 1 of Season 2 will feature the colorful Pahiyas Festival of Lucban, Quezon on 2 April 2022, 1:00 a.m. (Pacific time) via www.facebook.com/DFAPHL and http://youtu.be/kAPEuBQPBfs. This episode will include a virtual cooking segment, where the bisitas will cook a local delicacy called the pancit habhab. The local dry ingredients will be provided on the Fiesta Filipinas Kit, while other fresh ingredients should be provided by the bisitas.

Those who are interested to join and receive a Fiesta Filipinas kit are requested to contact the Consulate through email at cultural@pcgsanfrancisco.org. Due to limited supplies, the Fiesta Filipinas kits will be given away only to the first seven participants who will contact the Consulate.
