Filipino Cookbook Author in Cooking Demo For AAPI Heritage Month with Chef Sara Moulton
/Elizabeth Ann Quirino, cookbook author and food writer, will demo how to cook two classic Filipino dishes in a virtual cooking live session for the New York Women’s Culinary Alliance (NYWCA) with Chef Sara Moulton as moderator, via Zoom, on May 22, 2021, 5 to 6:30 PM (EST). This is in celebration of Asian America Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month in May. Ms. Quirino recently launched her cookbook: Instant Filipino Recipes: My Mother’s Traditional Philippine Food in a Multicooker Pot.
This is a follow up to My Mother’s Philippine Recipes, a collection of her late mother’s favorite Filipino traditional dishes which Betty Ann transformed to everyday cooking in her American kitchen. She will share her background and her connections to these dishes.
The recipes she’ll be cooking up will be Chicken and Pork in White Adobo and Guinataang Bilo-Bilo : Sweet Yams and Rice Balls in Coconut. Recipe cards will be sent out to those who sign up and want to cook alongside her. Or else viewers are just welcome to watch her cook her wonderful Philippine dishes.
There will also be a raffle of Betty Ann’s two cookbooks at the end of the event.
Betty Ann, as she is fondly called, was born and raised in Tarlac, Philippines and now based in New Jersey, USA. She is a journalist, author, and a correspondent for Positively Filipino online magazine. She blogs about Filipino home cooking recipes on her popular site Asian in America. She travels often to her home in the Philippines, and throughout Asia, in search of traditional recipes and stories about culture and personalities.
