People

ARROZidency Founder: France Viana, artist, art historian, curator, writer, former gallerist, working in the San Francisco Bay Area. France engages in social practice, employing food in live performances, photographs and installations to interrogate how Filipinx immigration is redefining what it means to be American. In extending the metaphor of food as identity, the residency program name is based on arroz, the word for rice in Spanish and Pilipino, and is invoked for its quintessential nourishing qualities.
