Ingredients

2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
4 slices pineapple, drained
1/4 cup pineapple juice
1 1/4 cup cake flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg, unbeaten
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Procedure 

Melt butter in 8 x 8 inch pan. Sprinkle with sugar and pour pineapple juice.
Arrange pineapple slices.
Sift dry ingredients together. Set aside.
Cream butter and add sugar gradually, creaming well.
Add unbeaten egg and beat well.
Combine milk and vanilla. Add alternately with dry ingredients to creamed mixture.
Blend well after each addition. Pour over pineapple. 
Bake on moderate oven at 375 degrees F for 45 minutes.
Let stand 5 minutes then turn upside down.
