Callie Sorensen (Des Plaines, Illinois) and I met while checking in at Chicago O’ Hare International airport for the Cathay Pacific flight to Hong Kong. She was moving to the Philippines because she found her true love there: James Betia. We then met other flightmates from Indiana; Marilie Sabdani Purdy (Cainta, Rizal) and Anna Liza Kozlowski (Naga City, Camarines Sur) and her daughter, Princess Micah Martinez.
I had a 12-hour layover at the Hong Kong International Airport to go to Jakarta. While sitting and eating my dinner, I met Herme Reodique (Quezon City), a resident of Devon, England, and who works at a nursing home. She was going home to Manila for vacation.
I was ready to doze off when I met Noy Cañas (Talisay City, Cebu), who was in Hong Kong for a day. He was interviewed by a furniture-factory owner at Hong Kong International Airport for a a possible position in Dongguan, China. He was waiting to go back home to the Philippines. An owner of an auto-repair shop in Cebu, he was previously in the furniture business in China.
Sean Deposa (General Santos City, South Cotabato) also had a long layover at Hong Kong International Airport. A chiefmate at RD Fishing Corporation, he was going to Kaohsiung, Taiwan, to inspect a fishing boat that his company was purchasing. He was very excited because it was his first trip abroad.
