The one awesome Filipina I'd share a meal with is Gabriela Silang. As we sample the food wrapped in banana leaf I'd ask, "What were your last words to your husband, Diego, before his assassination on May 28, 1763? What about your family? What made you take up your husband's leadership role in the Ilocos rebellion and the events leading to your execution four months later on September 20,1763?" I cannot imagine the hardships you faced, yet this uprising sparked the revolutionary spirit among Filipinos against the Spaniards. I give this garland in gratitude for your courage and great sacrifice for our country.
