U.S. Librarians Elect First Fil-Hawaiian American President

Amid mounting right-wing book-bashing and virulent attacks on librarians, the American Library Association elected its first Filipina Hawaiian American president. Lessa Kanani’opua Pelayo-Lozada was installed as the president of the American Library Association (ALA), which represents more than 55,000 members (See INQUIRER.net for story).
