Grandmaster Eugene Torre was officially inducted into the World Chess Hall of Fame at Union Station in Missouri on Wednesday. Asia's first grandmaster was one of the inductees in 2021, but the official ceremony only took place a year later (See ABS-CBN News for story).

Filipino-American Grandmaster Wesley So won recently the Skilling Open, kicking off his Champion Chess Tour campaign that runs until Sept. 2021. So beat fellow GM Magnus Carlsen in a tiebreak, earning $30,000 in what was the first leg of the online Champions Chess Tour (See Manila Mail for story).
