Ilocos-born Monty Manibog, a Filipino American Olympian and pioneer, passed away over the weekend of August 13 at age 86. The former Philippine national team gymnasts, also wrestled, representing the Philippines at the 1952 games in Helsinki. One of the first Filipino American lawyers to practice in the U.S., he became one of the first Filipino Americans elected to a city council in 1972, eventually serving as mayor of Monterey Park, reports Balitang America.
