“Women in Law: A Forum with Pathbreaking Filipina American Lawyers and Justices”, 21 March 2025
/In celebration of National Women’s Month in the Philippines and Women’s History Month in the United States, and in line with the series of talks that have highlighted the contributions of Filipino women in various sectors of American society, the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco is hosting a forum entitled, “Women in Law: A Forum with Pathbreaking Filipina American Lawyers and Justices”.
The forum will explore the contributions of Filipino American women in the practice of law in the United States. The panelists will share their stories and experiences as immigrants and legal practitioners, their views on local and national issues, and their thoughts about the influence of their Filipino ancestry and heritage in their role as lawyers, justices and advocates.
The following will serve as panelists during the forum:
Atty. Melba Cawit, Past President, Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) California Chapter
Atty. Maribeth Charvet, President-elect, Filipino Bar Association of Northern California (FBANC)
Atty. Elaine Bordeaux, Managing Partner, E. Antonio Bordeaux PLLC, Colorado
Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye (ret.), the first Filipino- and Asian-American Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of California, will give a special message.
Consul General Neil Frank Ferrer will deliver his welcome remarks during the event.
