The opening of the VFS Global Passport Renewal Centre in Dublin, Ireland  has saved time and money for hundreds of Philippines citizens who, in the past, had to travel to London to renew their passports.

The Philippines government and VFS Global, a leading outsourcing and technology services company for governments and diplomatic missions worldwide, opened the Passport Renewal Centre in Dublin, Ireland in November 2021. Since then, over 1000 passport applicants have been processed at the Dublin centre.

In 2018, an estimated 19,013 Filipinos lived in Ireland, up from 14,725 Filipinos who migrated to the country in 2016. A large proportion of this group have filled skills shortages in the nursing and healthcare sector. Some 6,000 Filipinos work as nurses in hospitals (7 per cent of all nurses) with many more working as carers for the elderly, disabled and young children.

Every year, an estimated 10 per cent of Philippines passport holders in Ireland have to renew their passports.
