November Philippine Film Events in New York

1) MIKE de LEON: SELF-PORTRAIT OF A FILIPINO FILMMAKER. Nov 1 - 30 at the Museum of Modern Art. A major retrospective of de Leon's films and classics from LVN, the studio owned by his family. Free with museum ticket or with MoMA membership. Opening day features Mutya ng Pasig/Muse of the Pasig River at 4:00 PM and the newly restored Itim/The Rites of May at 6:30 PM.

2) SA PUSOD NG DAGAT/IN THE NAVEL OF THE SEA. Friday, Nov 4, 7:30 PM at New York University's King Juan Carlos I Center. A rare availability of the classic film directed by newly proclaimed National Artist Marilou Diaz-Abaya. Free admission. For more details and to RSVP:

3) KATIPS. Sunday, Nov 13 at the King Juan Carlos Center. A musical set in the Martial Law period, directed by Vince Tanada. Winner of eight 2022 FAMAS awards, including Best Picture, Director, and Actor. As of this date, screening time is not yet set, but will likely be at 1 or 2pm.
