KalayaanSF Festival 2019

In celebration of the 121st anniversary of Philippine Independence from Spain, KalayaanSF, a community-based non-profit, in collaboration with the San Francisco Manila Sister City Committee, and The Philippine Consulate General of San Francisco will be holding several events this June.

KALAYAANSF FESTIVAL in Union Square will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 starting 10 AM to 7 PM. The word “Kalayaan” means “independence” or “freedom,” will showcase Philippine culture and heritage. This exciting festival held every June is known for its signature street performances from Filipino American cultural and performing arts groups; a Marketplace showcasing a wide selection of arts and crafts from the Bay Area and Philippines; Filipino Food stalls, and a FREE Evening Concert presented by TFC/The Filipino Channel featuring entertainers headlined by Sam Milby, a popular Filipino Actor and singer, and bi-lingual rapper, Ruby Ibarra and her band the Balikbayans. 

PHILIPPINE BALLET THEATRE: KALAYAAN ON POINTE, A one-day only San Francisco debut performance of the Philippine Ballet Theatre, a resident company of the Cultural Center, will be he held on Sunday, June 23, 2019, at the McKenna Theater on 1600 Hollaway Avenue in San Francisco at 6:30 PM. Heroes and legends of the 1898 fight for Philippine independence against Spain come alive in this stirring performance by 20 award-winning performers of the world-renowned Philippine Ballet Theatre group.
