Crowdfunding for the Victoria Manalo Draves Film

Victoria Manalo Draves was the first woman in history to win two Olympic Gold Medals in diving at the 1948 London Olympics. Victoria was half Filipino and half English and faced many prejudices in a time of segregation in San Francisco and Anti-Pacific sentiment during World War II.

When Victoria first started diving at the Fairmont Club, her coach Phil Paterson put her in a separate club never integrating her with the rest of the team. She even had to change her name to her English mother's maiden name, Taylor in order to compete.

She was introduced to fellow diver, Sammy Lee who introduced her to coach Lyle Draves at Oakland Athletics who later became her husband. Vicki went to the Olympics representing the USA in a time of post WWII and returned with Gold to be the first woman in history to win gold in diving.

Actress producer Georgina Tolentino and Icarus Film Studios has launched a new crowdfunding effort on youcaring.com to bring Victoria Manalo Draves' story to screen. Join the community in bringing this film into a reality.
