On Saturday, August 12th at 2pm the Manilatown Jazz Ensemble will start the show with Caroline Cabading on Vocals, Raymond Bambao on Bass, Chris Planas on Guitar, Harold Ohashi on Drums and Vincent Khoe on piano.

And we're happy to welcome our Guest Spoken Word Artist: Aurelio Agcaoili and Guest Musician: Chris Planas!

About Aurelio Agcaoili

Aurelio Solver Agcaoili teaches at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He received recognitions in the areas of education, communication, research, and creative writing including the United States Fulbright Scholarship. He has taught as visiting professor in various universities in the Philippines. His sociohistorical novel, Dangadang, won an award at the Philippine Centennial Literary Prize. He will read from his most recent collections Kalkallautang and Another Citizen Gone Down. He writes in three languages. 

About Chris Planas

This month's Guest Musician Chris Planas was a founding member of Hawaii's world beat favorite, "Pagan Babies", a band that played Afro-pop, reggae, soca and Latin musics. He has served as bandleader for oldies acts such as Drifters, the Shirelles, Mitch Ryder, and Mark Lindsay. Funded by the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, Chris has performed his own compositions at the Honolulu Academy of Arts, and has recorded with revered Hawaiian artist Bla Pahinui. Since moving to the Bay Area in 2003, he has performed or recorded with Harvey Mandel, Freddie Roulette, Sugar Pie DeSanto, Ishmael Reed and the Manilatown Jazz Ensemble.
