Benefit Concert to Rebuild Destroyed Churches in Bohol
/Amazingly, despite all the destruction, “People continued to flock to their ruined churches to hold Mass in the open.” (A Beacon in the Darkness, Roman Catholic Diocese of Tagbilaran) Those churches are still far from being restored or rebuilt, however, and efforts by the Boholano priests have been pivotal in getting this challenge met.
The Singing Priests of Tagbilaran (SPOT) have been touring since last spring to raise funds to help rebuild the destroyed churches of Bohol. The Singing Priests of Tagbilaran is a group of priests who received their musical training and graduated from the Immaculate Heart of Mary Seminary in Tagbilaran, Philippines. They have been bonded together by a desire to share their talents and bear “the light of Christ” to the world.
A benefit concert in Holy Name of Jesus Church, in cooperation with Paring Bol-anon, USA, Inc., will be presenting “Voices of Hope: A Light in the Dark,” on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 7:00 pm, featuring the third generation of the Singing Priests of Tagbilaran.
In a departure from their repertoire, the Holy Name of Jesus concert will present a special program as the Singing Priests of Tagbilaran reunite with their founder Fr. Arnold Zamora, who will be music director for this benefit concert. Tickets are only $10 for general seating (children under 12 are free) and are available at the door on the day of the concert or you may contact: the Holy Name Pastoral Center at 415-664-8590 for more information. Holy Name of Jesus is located on 39th Avenue and Lawton in San Francisco, California.
