An Invitation to Chiara Cox's Lecture on "Evelyn Mandac: The Filipina Soprano Who Broke Opera Glass Ceilings"

Chiara Cox will be presenting her 30 minute lecture entitled "Evelyn Mandac: The Filipina Soprano Who Broke Opera Glass Ceilings" followed by an interview with Evelyn Mandac herself on May 11 at 10:45am PST (1:45pm EST) at Sound Check! A Festival of Asian American Music, Sound, and Scholarship organized by the Music of Asian America Research Center in partnership with Wing Luke Museum.

Chiara has been researching on Ms. Mandac's life and work for the past 3 years and her lecture will include rarely seen images of the opera singer growing up, at the University of the Philippines, at Juilliard, at various operas (even a few from rehearsals), and a clip of an unpublished aria she was able to get permission to share. Her lecture will not only delve into Ms. Mandac's illustrious professional career and impact on the opera world, it will also allow you a glimpse into the person behind the voice.

THE EVENT IS FREE TO ATTEND BUT REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
